The Backstretch has a long history of names and owners. Originally a horse stable, back in the 1930's, the first liquor establishment was Bianchi's. When Bianchi's moved to their old location in 1946, the new owners started what would eventually evolve into the Backstretch. From Butt's Grill, Holly's and Jack's Place, the bar has always been a town and Ohio Wesleyan University tradition. Buttsies was the long term name known by most students from the 40’s until the late 80’s, however, the name of the Backstretch evolved when the place was purchased by S. Millisor in 1983. August 1, 1990, the Backstretch was purchased by my husband, Jeff and I. Until his death in 1999, Jeff managed the bar with his heart and soul. Though I have always had some part in the operations, it was not until his death that I fully took over the reins. Since then, the Backstretch has seen many changes, growths and successes, but it is my hope, desire and commitment that the bar will continue on in his tradition: A place to call home, in which everyone is welcomed and respected.

Enjoy our website and I hope to see you soon down at the bar!
